Selling on EMI means handing over a phone under an agreed installment arrangement.
Selling on EMI means handing over a phone under an agreed installment arrangement. Before choosing software, decide who provides the financing, receives payments, resolves account disputes and authorizes device actions. A retailer introducing a lending partner has different responsibilities from a shop collecting its own installments.
Write down the sale before handing over the phone
Record the device identity, sale reference, down payment, scheduled amounts and due dates. Explain the total amount and any actual charges in language the customer understands. Use your business’s approved identity-verification and agreement process; software is not a substitute for deciding whether the arrangement is suitable.
An illustrative Indian shop example
Suppose a ₹15,000 phone has a ₹3,000 down payment and six ₹2,000 installments, with no additional charges in this example. Staff should be able to identify the ₹12,000 remaining amount, the next due date and each receipt. Real offers may have other terms; do not hide those inside the monthly figure.
Prepare a handover checklist
Check the customer-to-device match, complete supported enrollment, explain possible device actions and provide a payment and support contact. Ask the customer to repeat where they will send payment and whom they should contact if a receipt is not reflected. Resolve misunderstandings before the phone leaves the counter.
Run the first week as an operating trial
At closing each day, match cash and transfer references to customer accounts. Assign unresolved receipts to one person and record the next action. Review whether another staff member can understand the records without asking the owner. Expand the process after the team can handle a correction and an authorized unlock reliably.
